The Back Story:

Bison - (Bison bison)  

Now found primarily in the west, massive herds of Bison once ranged throughout the United States. Bison have adapted well to the winters of the Western United States.  Their thick wooly fur enables them to withstand sub-zero temperatures for weeks at a time. And the weight of their massive shoulder hump enables them to use their heads to push snow away from their winter forage.  Weighing up to a ton, a full grown Bull Bison can travel to speeds of 35 miles per hour.
